Marie Ananian is a 22 year old classical pianist, teacher, and accompanist. Born in Sendai, Japan, Marie began piano lessons when she was 7 years old. After her family moved to the United States in 2006, she spent one year self teaching on a keyboard until she began exploring the world of classical music with her inspiring instructor, Kate Rubke-Foxworth. 6 years later, she graduated from Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) with a Certificate of Merit and received MTAC Panel Honors in 2014.
Marie has won numerous prizes at Coachella Valley Concerto Competition (2019), Gail Newby Concerto Competition (2018), Steinway Concerto Competition (2018), Temecula Valley Concerto Competition (2018), Rotary International Music Competition (2015), Riverside Young Pianist’s Competition (2015), Southern California Junior Bach Festival (2015), Redlands Inland Empire Piano Festival (2010-2015), among others. She has also received master classes from Antoinette Perry, Katherine Kautsky, John Robilette, Norman Krieger, and Sakiko Ohashi.
In addition to performing, Marie is passionate about teaching, with a growing private piano studio in Murrieta and Riverside. She currently works with Dr. Elvin Rodriguez at La Sierra University, who is mentoring her as she pursues a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance. Marie gives thanks and glory to God for His gift of music in her life.
