Lexi Escobar is currently a Senior at La Sierra University earning her Bachelor’s degree in Music with an emphasis in Choral Education, as well as a minor in Drama with emphases in Performance and Education. She studies voice under the direction of Javier Gonzalez, and has studied percussion under Marvin B. Gordy, and conducting with Ariel Quintana. Ensembles she is involved in include the University Wind Ensemble directed by Giovanni Santos and Orchestra under Dean Anderson. She has participated in La Sierra University’s Music Department productions of "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Little Nemo in Slumberland," "Pirates of Penzance" as Major-General Stanley, and "Hansel and Gretel" as the Sandman. She has also held significant lead roles in multiple Drama Department productions for which she has received three ‘Irene Ryan National Acting Scholarship’ nominations in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Since her Freshman year, Ms. Escobar has been a member of the University Chorale and Chamber Singers under the direction of Ariel Quintana and Lesley Leighton, and she currently serves as the Choral Assistant and Librarian for both vocal ensembles. In the last three years, she has served as a student teacher for the Music Department’s Summer Music where she has taught choir, music theory, and various classes in theatre and movement for the Vocal Academy students of the camp. She has also been a substitute student teacher for the ‘Redlands Summer Music Camp’ for choir and handbells.
Lexi will be graduating from La Sierra this coming June, and is planning on attending graduate school to earn Master’s degrees in Music Education and Theatre for Youth.
